Our 2023 Summit – Uniting Dentistry – is fast approaching and offers myriad educational and networking opportunities for the entire DSO team. We hope to see you and your staff in Orlando to take advantage of visionary mainstage speakers, tracked breakout sessions for DSO team members on topics including Operation/IT, Marketing, HR, Finance, Clinical Leadership and Procurement/Supply Chain, opportunities to give back with a CSR activity to support the American Cancer Society, and time to visit with industry partners and vendors in our Solutions Center.

Beyond the Summit, I want to share other resources for the entire DSO team. Throughout the year, the ADSO offers members networking and education resources including study clubs and ADSO Exchange webinars that share information and best practices for functional areas within any DSO. These resources are particularly valuable to our mid-market members who are looking for best practices to help them with enhance their operational efficiencies and allow them to successfully scale their organizations. Check our website for webinar and study club topics and dates. It’s easy to join and your team will benefit from both industry experts and their peers. ADSO is committed to helping all DSO team members succeed.

NCOIL: This week, Matt Steele traveled to San Diego to participate in the National Council of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) spring meeting. NCOIL is a legislative organization comprised principally of legislators serving on state insurance and financial institutions committees around the nation. NCOIL writes Model Laws in insurance.

In collaboration with the American Dental Association (ADA), the ADSO socialized pieces of model legislation about dental insurance reform pertaining to establishing a dental medical loss ratio. This comes on the heels of the historic dental medical loss ratio ballot initiative in Massachusetts. On Sunday, the ADA presented to the committee on the dental medical loss ratio legislation and the committee positively responded to the testimony. It is expected that getting NCOIL to adopt model legislation on a dental medical loss ratio will be a multi-year effort.

Join a Track for Educational learnings (Wednesday, 3/29 at 2:30 PM & Thursday, 3/30 at 10:00 AM)

Tracked breakout programing is built on ADSO’s popular study club program. See more details on the topics each will focus on in the online summit agenda. After the 2023 Summit, track participants will stay connected through the study club program, fostering deeper ties over time. Open to DSOs only. Must select one track at registration.

Have Breakfast at the Mid-Market Deep Dive Post-Conference Workshop (Friday, 3/31 at 9:00 AM)

When you think of going to the dentist for a cleaning, it rarely crosses your mind that you could leave with more than you bargained for, like an infectious disease. We often assume that the dental office has taken the necessary steps of infection control and cleaning/disinfection practices, but that is not always the case.

Now more than ever before, dental offices must be hypervigilant to ensure they are following all recommendations for cleaning and disinfection practices to help protect against COVID-19. If not, it has been shown that outbreaks can occur. For example, I live in Colorado and there were seven cases of COVID-19 linked directly to two dental offices in El Paso County in July of 2020⁽¹⁾.
